On June 25, 2013, Europe v. Facebook filed a formal complaint (available in German only) against Yahoo! Germany in regard to the company’s transfer of Europeans’ data to the NSA under the Prism program. Due to the location of Yahoo! Germany’s principal office in Munich, the complaint was originally filed with the Bavarian Data Protection Regulator, who transferred the case to the German Federal Data Protection Commissioner (the “Federal DPC”) on June 27. On July 2, the Federal DPC issued an order (available in German only) requiring Yahoo! Germany to respond to the complaint.
