EPIC’s Intervention in Liberty, et al’s Appeal to the European Court of Human Rights

On March 18, 2016, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) filed a third-party intervention in the appeal of the Judgments of the UK Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) on December 5, 2014 and February 6, 2015 in the challenge brought by Liberty and others to the UK’s Tempora program and use of information obtained through the NSA’s Upstream and Prism programs. The purpose of EPIC’s intervention is to inform the ECtHR of the NSA’s use of mass surveillance, particularly in regard to the communications of non-Americans overseas.
